All Quiet on the Western Front

Seeing todays scene of a man killing his first victim and his reaction was really touching. He tried all his best to save his life. This shows the horror that exists in war. The scene where the sniper shoots an enemy soldier demonstrated that war has different effects on people. That sniper enjoyed killing people. As for the other soldier who had his first kill regretted every second of that scene for he got to see his victim die slowly. Very sad. Although this movie is about showing the horrors of war it did have some humour such as when the four soldiers wanted to visit the ladies across the river. When the soldiers showed up to the ladies front door was a very comical scene. Shows that the film tries to achieve different goals such as creating a connection with the male audience with the pursuit of women.

  1. Well, you are quite right about the comical aspects of the scene with the French girls. But this film is unforgiving. When we show the rest of the scene tomorrow, try to figure out exactly how the director is making a statement about war within the confines of this seemingly unrelated and comic vignette.
